Access levels
How access levels work
When you first arrive at the Earth Observation Data Hub (EODH), you are not signed in and have Open Access by default. There are three access levels, each providing more ways to explore data, collaborate with others, and carry out your own analysis work. As you create an account, you will start to gain access to additional capabilities and services.
🌐 Open Access
Perfect for first-time visitors who want to look around without creating an account. You can:
- Browse the website
- View the documentation
- Discover available datasets
- Search all data collections in the catalogue
- Visualise and download open-access imagery
👤 User Account
Creating a user account allows you to access additional areas of the Hub and collaborate with other users. It allows you to:
- Access shared workspaces that you have been invited to join
- View and work with resources within those shared workspaces
Access restrictions
Users at this access level do not have permission to create or manage a workspace themselves.
This access level is ideal for users who are collaborating on a project managed by someone else.
🚀 User Account + Billing Account
This access level is for users who want to manage their own projects, administrate collaborative workspaces for a team, access the processing capability of the Hub, and use commercial datasets. With an approved Billing Account, you are able to:
- Create and manage your own workspace
- Invite and manage workspace members
- View resource usage within that workspace
Once you have created a workspace, you will then be able to:
- Work with commercial datasets (visualise previews, fetch a quote, purchase scenes)
- Access hosted notebooks for data processing and analysis
- Store or bring in own data to the platform
- Run your own workflow jobs
- Use platform-based applications
